The Chocksett Inn of Sterling Celebrates Grand Opening of Laurelwood Ballroom

STERLING, Mass. – April 27, 2007 – The Chocksett Inn of Sterling, Mass. announces that its recently-constructed Laurelwood Ballroom is open for business. To officially commemorate the occasion, Inn owners Edward and Janice Troisi had a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 27 followed by a grand opening celebration with community residents and leaders.

The 12,500-square-foot Laurelwood Ballroom was constructed for weddings, corporate meetings and other social events. It has the capacity to accommodate up to 275 guests. Other features include:

  • Social/cocktail area
  • Sitting area with fireplace
  • Access to Sawyer Board Room
  • Private hospitality suite with balcony for bridal parties
  • Vaulted ceiling ballroom with fireplace in cocktail area
  • Port Coché drop off
  • Two full-service bars

  • Two drop-down audio-visual screens
  • House sound system with wireless microphone
  • Wireless Internet and high speed cable
  • Staging and podium
  • Advanced lighting system

“The Laurelwood Ballroom was originally conceived about three years ago when my wife and I realized that requests for the larger parties was constant,” said owner Edward Troisi. “We achieved that goal with the help of financing provided by Clinton Savings Bank, and we hope future guests are as pleased as we are with the result. It’s a beautiful ballroom with top-notch media features.”

About the Chocksett Inn

The Chocksett Inn was established in 1989 as a traditional New England country inn, serving both vacation and business travelers for long- or short-term stays. It has 26 luxurious, one- and two-room suites with spacious living areas and full kitchens in every room. In 2005, the inn established its restaurant, The Bistro, which serves casual, yet creative dinner options to guests and the greater public six nights a week. A long-time venue for weddings and meetings, The Chocksett Inn offers several unique spaces for events, including beautiful gardens for outdoor wedding ceremonies and gatherings.
