The New England Historic Home Show, to be held at the Sturbridge Host hotel in Sturbridge, Massachusetts on April 18, 19 and 20, 2008, promises to be a showcase of ideas and products to help blend all of today's necessities with your period home without compromising its integrity.

The show will feature over 70 exhibits including architectural salvage, fine art restoration, period decorating, floor and wall coverings, furniture restoration, millwork and mouldings, period lighting, hardware, windows, porches and landscaping.

Additionally the show will showcase the work of 20 of the nation's foremost traditional artisans, featuring the highest quality in fine art, folk art, museum quality replicas, original artworks and fine furniture reproductions.

There will also be workshops throughout the weekend focusing on practical approaches to preservation and renovation. Craftsman David T Smith will show you how to design a kitchen that is both functional and period for your historic or reproduction home and in another workshop, show ways to disguise your modern necessities to blend with your period style home. Rabbit Goody of Thistle Hill Weavers will discuss the color and beauty of carpets of the past as well as how to recreate that look today. Alex Pifer will chat about the changing face of design and the resurgence of the High Country movement. Polly Forcier of MB Historic Décor will replicate a Rufus Porter scene from New Hampshire on a floorcloth freehand using stencils recorded from an original wall. All of the informative workshops are included in your admission price and require no advance reservations.

Other activities include a book signing by acclaimed papercutter Claudia Hopt. She will be signing her latest book on Scherenscnitte, "Papercutting: Tips, Tools, and Techniques for Learning the Craft."

Whether you are in the midst of doing a restoration, considering adding a period addition or even contemplating building a historically correct reproduction from the ground up, The New England Historic Home Show is a valuable resource for 17th, 18th and 19th century American architectural preservation.
