Worcester Irish Music Festival
Release Date: April 21, 2008
We write to alert you, your families, friends, and colleagues to the Worcester Irish Music Festival which will take place on June 14 & 15, 2008 at the Hibernian Cultural Centre located at the corner of Green and Temple Streets in the City's Canal District. The purpose of the Festival is to bring people of all ages and cultures together through music, food, and refreshments, while also promoting: Irish culture and heritage, the City of Worcester, the Canal District, and the Hibernian Cultural Centre. Please have a look at the Festival's website: www.WorcesterIrishMusicFestival.com.
The Festival will be under a 120'x100' tent in the parking lot of the Hibernian Cultural Centre and will feature live musical performances by Black 47 (from NYC), The Town Pants (from Vancouver, British Columbia), Deirdre Reilly (from Nashville, Tennessee), and local acts including The Joshua Tree, The Brennan Brothers, Fergus, and Mulligan's Fancy, along with one or two Irish Step Dancing Academies. In addition to food and refreshments, the Festival will also feature the first ever (and soon-to-be-world-famous) Boiled Cabbage O'Lympics on Sunday, June 15. Several teams have already signed up for some of the 16 openings to compete in the O'Lympics, including the formidable duo of Hank Stolz and Peter Blute from WCRN Radio. The winning team will be awarded the "Cabbage Cup" by Lt. Gov. Tim Murray. If you are interested in participating in the O'Lympics, check out the website for more details, and email WorcesterIrishMusicFestival@gmail.com.
The Festival promises to be a great event. Please pass word along to your families, friends, and colleagues. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. See you at the Festival!
