Pet Rock Festival Sends Message to Atlanta Falcons
Worcester, Massachusetts - Last Sunday afternoon while snow fell, a group of animal lovers and supporters of the Pet Rock Festival gathered with their dogs to send a message to the Atlanta Falcons football team that “We have not forgotten the despicable crimes of Michael Vick.”
As a result of months of treatment and tender loving care, recent newscasts have depicted the few dogs who survived these horrors being placed in loving adoptive homes. While Vick who was sentenced to two years for torturing and murdering these dogs he held for dog fighting, is proposing to enlist in a prison supported program that may reduce his sentence. These animal advocates want to be sure this does not happen.
Last September at the 9th Annual Pet Rock Festival for the Animals, a banner was displayed that encouraged attendees to write their message to the Atlanta Falcons regarding the shocking and inhumane terror inflicted upon these trusting companion animals. “Michael Vick must serve his full sentence,” says Jeannie Hebert, a founding partner of Pet Rock. “The fact that he is a famous sports figure magnifies the situation. Vick should be setting an example for our youth, not exuding violence against society. We can not allow the awful crimes against these dogs to be minimalized because of his sports status and the passage of time.”
Charlene Arsenault, the other half of Pet Rock’s founding partnership says, “It is an insult to the public and to the court system to think that such disgusting acts of violence can be reduced. These actions are not just crimes against animals, but crimes against the entire community.”
The banner, complete with unedited comments will be sent to the Atlanta Falcons Administration to drive home the fact that the serious acts of the terror inflicted upon these defenseless animals at the hands of Michael Vick will continually bring disgrace to the Falcons as long as he is associated with the team.
