BOYLSTON, MA-The Seven State Daffodil Show is on May 3, 1PM-5PM, and May 4, 10AM-5PM. Gathered from gardens in New England and New York state, hundreds of cut daffodil specimens will represent the wide range of daffodil types in flower colors ranging from cream, lemon, orange, gold, yellow, and red to pinks and greens. A floral design competition will showcase the creative talents of the exhibitors. The display extends into the indoor and outdoor gardens at Tower Hill, which boasts tens of thousands of Narcissus; David Burdick, a daffodil expert, will offer a guided tour of Tower Hill's daffodil collection on Saturday at 12 noon.

The New England Primrose Show will run simultaneously with the Daffodil Show on the same weekend. Most people probably know Primroses as the ubiquitous potted plants with bright pastel flowers that land in every garden center and grocery store in February and March to brighten winter's darkest days. However, few gardeners are aware of the amazing versatility in the genus Primula, and the wonderful contribution these plants can make to the home landscape.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to view two shows and learn about two sets of plants. Lectures and guided tours will highlight the shows and elucidate the intricacies of these harbingers of spring. Alpine and rock garden plants and supplies will also be for sale.

The Daffodil and Primrose Shows are included with regular admission to Tower Hill Botanic Garden; $10 Adults, $7 Seniors, and $5 Youth aged 6-18, Children under 6 and WCHS members FREE. Tower Hill Botanic Garden is located at 11 French Drive, Boylston, MA, exit 24 off Route 290. For more information, call (508) 869-6111, or sign on to www.towerhillbg.org.
